Kelowna residents are being called to a reason rally this afternoon.
The event is being organized by David Crawford, a Kelowna resident who has long been a staple of anti-regulation / COVID conspiracy rallies.
When asked why he’s changing gears and organizing a rally, he said the main reason is that his efforts so far have already had a lot of positive feedback and the front line workers deserve more.
“I think frontline workers deserve a lot more credit,” he said in an email comment.
“You deserve it every day. I just make fun of anti-maskers and promote science. ”
He said that those who join him today will be masked and socially distant but will be able to say “hello”.
“There will be no boring, conspiratorial speeches…. although I may be able to make a few comments by screaming, ”he wrote on Facebook before the rally.
“After we haven’t spoken, we march to the motorway in the beautiful sunshine and get honked, which is a lot of fun. Hopefully a few ignorant people who can’t read will think of the Anti-Vax crowd and mistakenly honk in support as well, which will amuse us. Or they gesticulate, which is visible evidence that they skipped all science classes when they were young. I want to show the Kelowna people the front line workers, who deserve their recognition far more than I do. And the people who support it. “
The rally runs today from 12pm to 1.30pm and starts in Stuart Park across from City Hall. Then it’s just a short walk to the freeway to wave and honk your horn.
