Kelowna residents and canine are capable of escape suspicious home fireplace in a single day

The Kelowna Fire Department rushed to the scene of the fire earlier this morning.

At around 2 a.m., a fire report came in on the 3500 block on Reekie Road and sent a number of Kelowna Fire Department trucks and 16 employees to the scene.

Upon arrival, the crews found heavy black smoke and flames from the garage of a one-story family home.

They launched an offensive fire attack to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the house.

A lone resident and his dog were able to exit the house safely while the firefighters contained the damage to the garage and attic.

The resident and the four-legged friend are now in the care of the emergency services.

According to the KFD, the cause of the fire was classified as suspicious and is currently being investigated by the RCMP.
