Kelowna RCMP arrested a man on a motorcycle Friday morning.

The arrest, which attracted a significant number of bystanders, was videotaped by several people. A video presented to Castanet showed the man shouting that he “did nothing wrong” fighting while being carried into the back seat of a police car by four officers. Castanet did not release the video due to alleged psychological concerns of the arrested man.

According to the police, the man was stopped at 9:40 a.m. on Highway 97 on Kirschnerstrasse.

According to the RCMP, the Alberta registered motorcycle did not display its license plate correctly and the rider did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance. The bike also had major flaws.

“During the interview with the officers, the motorcyclist allegedly became very excited, refused to obey the officers’ instructions and was arrested for disability,” the RCMP said in a statement.

“When the officer tried to arrest the man, he resisted, and the officer needed the assistance of several other officers to get him into custody without injury.”

The man was taken into custody where he spoke to a nurse and then arrested under the Mental Health Act.

He was hospitalized and received a ticket for insurance and driving license violations, as well as an order to remedy the vehicle defects.

The man’s motorcycle has been confiscated for seven days and no further charges are expected.
