Kelowna RCMP has had a presence at a Rutland property for several days and residents are starting to ask questions.

According to several sources, the police have been standing in front of the house on Gerstmar Road since Sunday.

Neighbors tell Castanet this has been a problem house for many years, with new faces coming and going frequently, fights, an abundance of bikes and vehicles being dropped off regularly, and people in trailers and tents in the yard camp.

The neighbors also say they have been told the house will be demolished, but this has not been confirmed at the time.

The house is currently surrounded by trash and some windows are covered with tarpaulin.

Officials parked at the scene were unable to comment on the situation, however Castanet reached out to the RCMP media line for more information.

Castanet previously reported on this property in February 2020 when RCMP issued a search warrant and confiscated drugs and weapons from the home.

“During the search of the house, police confiscated quantities of suspicious crystal methamphetamine, as well as firearms and a variety of weapons,” said Const. Solana Paré at the time.

Castanet will be updated as more information becomes available.
