Police in Kelowna say a prolific offender is back in custody after blowing his house arrest.
The Kelowna RCMP says they were alerted on Dec. 7 at 2:20 pm about a silver Hyundai Tiburon with mismatched license plates heading south after it failed to stop for officers in Lake Country.
Investigators believed the vehicle was associated with a well-known prolific offender who was supposed to be under house arrest, and was under release conditions to not be in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
Mounties with police dogs set up from across the suspect’s home in the 800 block of Bullock Road and waited.
The man showed up at 3:15 pm and parked the Tiburon. He was arrested while trying to remove the stolen license plates from his vehicle, which was impounded.
“This outstanding coordination between the various RCMP units including, Lake Country general duty, the police dog service and the prolific offenders Unit along with the RCMP dispatch operators relaying information allowed for a quick arrest to place a known offender back before the courts,” said const. Mike Della Paolera.
The man is facing several new charges and has been held in custody.
Police didn’t release his name.
