A man remains in RCMP custody after allegedly attempting to steal a bait car.
The driver, and a female passenger were both arrested in the early morning hours last Friday after stealing a bait vehicle that police deployed the night before.
RCMP were notified once the vehicle went into motion and arrested the couple in the Dilworth Drive area.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a taser inside a fanny pack on the floor of the car.
The driver remains in custody while the female passenger has been released to attend court at a later date.
“This is a great success story regarding a coordinated effort to counter property crime in Kelowna between the Proactive Enforcement Unit deploying the bait vehicles in hot spots and general duty officers arresting a known property crime offender within hours of deployment,” said Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay of the Kelowna RCMP Proactive Enforcement Team.
