Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon all broke 88-year-old temperature records on Thursday

It was another scorcher in British Columbia on Thursday.

Another 14 temperature records fell across the province on Thursday, bringing the total number of records broken over the past three days to 38.

Of the 14 broken on Thursday, four of them were in the Okanagan and that includes Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton all eclipsing marks set 88 years ago.

Kelowna hit 38.7°C, breaking the previous record of 37.2°C.

Penticton hit 37.9°C, just narrowly eclipsing the previous record of 37.8°C.

Vernon hit 37.6°C, topping the previous record of 37.2°C.

All three of those previous temperature records were set all the way back in 1934, the same year that Donald Duck made his first appearance in a Disney short film.

The other Okanagan spot to set a new record on Thursday was Osoyoos, although the previous record wasn’t broken as the city hit 41.2°C to tie the mark set in 1996.
