A Kelowna athlete aims to earn the title of fittest man alive.
Brent Fikowski, who has been training CrossFit for almost 10 years, placed third at the 2021 CrossFit Games, held July 27-August 1 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Each year, thousands of athletes compete in challenges ranging from swimming, steeplechases, deadlifts and more.
“Happy with my execution all weekend. Laser-focused, intense, yet relaxed. I really couldn’t ask for a better competitive experience,” Fikowski posted on his Facebook page.
The 30-year-old has previously competed in the CrossFit Games five times, finishing fourth, second, fourth, 23rd and 15th.
In 2019, Fikowski also took first place at the Dubai CrossFit Championship with 949 points.

“Physically I’m not quite there yet, mentally I was ready and I’m close… I saw improvements up the rankings in areas that I’ve struggled with for years and years and years and this year I felt like I started unlocking me. I picked up some new skills and abilities with my coaching staff and I’m starting to use them this year and I was optimistic,” Fikowski said in a YouTube video of the event.
Fikowski has been featured in the CrossFit Netflix documentaries Fittest on Earth: A Decade of Fitness and The Redeemed and the Dominant: Fittest on Earth, and even in GQ Magazine.
