Kelowna man arrested after being stopped in a stolen car

The local RCMP this morning found a vehicle stolen from a residence in West Kelowna and arrested a suspect.

Police said they were informed of a stolen black Subaru inheritance just before 5:30 a.m.

<p>Minutes later, a Kelowna RCMP officer on a routine patrol on Harvey Avenue discovered the stolen vehicle traveling east near Gordon Drive in Kelowna.</p>
<p>The officer followed the vehicle and, with the help of another officer, managed to stop the vehicle just outside Banks Road.</p>
<p>The driver and the sole occupant refused to cooperate with the police and were removed from the vehicle and arrested.</p>
<p>It was found that the 21-year-old Kelowna man also had two pending arrest warrants on previous affairs. </p>
<p>He is currently in custody and is on trial.  The matter will be referred to the BC Prosecution Service for review and approval.</p>
