Three new judges were appointed to the BC Provincial Court, including two from the Interior.

Judges will help deal with the backlog caused by COVID-19, according to a press release from the Attorney General.

Kamloops attorney Michelle Stanford moved from nursing to law and became a lawyer 27 years ago.

She lived in Kamloops, specialized in administrative and criminal law and worked as a special prosecutor.

She was named Queen’s Attorney in 2018 and became the first black and female bank in Kamloops and Yale Counties.

Kelowna attorney Martin Nadon began his lawyer career 30 years ago in Nanaimo, but opened his own law firm in Kelowna five years ago.

He has been the Attorney General of the Attorney General since 2001.

The third judge appointed was Jodie Harris of Vancouver.

Although the judges are located in a judicial region, many travel regularly across the province, the press release said.
