A store in Kelowna’s Blue Heights industrial park on Highway 97 North on McCurdy Road was destroyed by fire early Monday.
When the fire department arrived shortly after 5 a.m., flames broke six meters into the air
“The entire structure suffered great damage, but the crews managed to keep the fire from all (adjacent) companies,” said train driver Kelly Stephens in a press release.
More than 40 firefighters were called to the scene to fight the fire with a combination of truck, cart and hand hoses.
Fire investigators from the Kelowna Fire Department and the Kelowna RCMP tried to determine the cause of the fire.
Crews also dampened hot spots throughout the day using an excavator to remove scorched debris.
