Kelowna’s Bercum Builders has been nominated for three Canadian Home Builders’ Association National Awards for Housing Excellence.

Another Kelowna company, 3rd Generation Homes, is up for one award.

Bercum has a shot at three awards thanks to one of its renovation projects called Cypress Hill Estates, which is located in Coldstream. Bercum has a chance to win for best exterior renovation, best single-room renovation and best whole home renovation over $800,000.

3rd Generation Homes, meanwhile, is a finalist for best detached custom home between 4,000 and 5,000 square feet. The home is located on Harvard Road in southeast Kelowna.

“The Okanagan Valley is the home to some of the very best home builders in the country,” Bercum Builders owner and CHBA-Central Okanagan president Darren Witt said in a press release. “With 3rd Generation Homes and Bercum Builders representing CHBA Central Okanagan at this year’s awards, we continue the tradition of showing the country the skills of our local builders, trades and suppliers.

“From innovative design to incredible renovation transformations to thoughtfully-planned communities, this year’s finalists are an impressive representation of the incredible work done by Canada’s residential construction industry, which is made up of small family-run businesses as well as larger companies.”

There were a record 800 nominations for 47 awards from eight provinces this year, and a panel of nearly 200 industry experts reviewed each submission to come up with a list of five finalists in each category.

The winners will be announced on May 13.
