The Kelowna Fire Department had to act this afternoon to rescue a number of businesses in a mall along Pandosy Street.
Around 12:23 p.m., calls came in about smoke from the roof of a shop in the mall, and the KFD sent four motors and 18 employees to the scene.
When they arrived, firefighters confirmed that the unit had smoke coming from the roof area and that a fire attack team was deployed.
They managed to put out the fire in the unit without damaging the adjacent businesses.
“Inside the machine, there was minor damage to a tumble dryer and some smoke damage.
The KFD determined that the cause of the fire was an accumulation of lint in the dryer area.
