Ray and Kay Kandola, owners of City Furniture, made a gift to the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Endowment Fund of the KGH Foundation.

A prominent business couple from Kelowna made a donation to the KGH Foundation on the anniversary of Sikh Guru Nanak.

Ray and Kay Kandola, owners of City Furniture, were inspired to present a gift to the KGH Foundation’s Guru Nanak Dev Ji Endowment Fund as the Sikh community celebrates the anniversary in the Guru Nanak tradition.

Ray and Kay Kandola have decided to support the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Endowment Fund, which was founded in 2019 by Akaljot Gill’s family together with the Sikh community in honor of the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

“It is an honor to be able to make this gift on behalf of Guru Nanak,” said Ray Kandola, who along with his wife Kay recently presented a gift to support advanced stroke care at Kelowna General Hospital.

“We are proud of our Sikh heritage. We hope that this gift will inspire others in our community to also support the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Endowment Fund. “

The donations will primarily be used for the care and treatment of patients at the KGH as well as for the purchase of equipment and the financing of research.

Kandola is the co-founder and President of City Furniture & Appliances, which was founded in 1976 and now has 23 locations in British Columbia and Alberta, including the local business in West Kelowna.

“Ray and Kay are really great leaders in our community, not just as business owners, but because they give so much back,” says Gary Rozak, KGH Foundation Director of Philanthropy of all of us who call the Southern Inner Home. “
