It’s sign vandalism season

The 35-day general election campaign was only a few days ago, and vandals have already hit election signs in the Central Okanagan.
Most of the vandalism was carried out on conservative signs belonging to incumbents Tracy Gray (Kelowna-Lake Country) and Dan Albas (Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola).
The damage to all eight signs Castanet saw appeared to be from the same vandal.
And while most people are pushing to vote green, some personally shoot Gray for voting against Bill C-6, which would make conversion therapy illegal in Canada.
A member of the Gray campaign says graffiti could be removed in the past, but the new type of spray paint makes the removal process useless.
And at $ 50 to $ 100 per sign minus the wood, the loss of signs can quickly drain the election budget set by Elections Canada.
The Gray campaign spent $ 9,000 on signs and doesn’t have the financial means to replace them at will.
“These signs were paid for with donations from ordinary Canadians and were erected by hard-working volunteers from across the Kelowna Lake country,” Adam Wilson said of the campaign.
“Vandalizing or removing signs is a criminal act and is punished according to the penal code.
“We hope everyone will respect the time volunteers put into building and putting up these signs, the donations they buy, and the law by no longer damaging the campaign signs of any of the candidates in this federal campaign.”
Apparently other party signs were also destroyed.
