Kelowna may have Canada’s worst drivers, and when season eight of the hit show premieres on the Discovery Channel on October 29th, we’ll be closer to finding out.
Klyne Postnikoff will represent K-Town this season. With good reason, when he was only 18, he wrote off 2 cars, suspended his driver’s license and caused 10 accidents. His speed and negligence ensure constant concern for his mother Maureen, who fears that her son might die behind the wheel.
For all her fears, Maureen still helps Klyne when he gets into traffic problems by paying for his “wreck-free” routes, but enough was enough since Maureen is actually the one who nominated him for the show, and it appears rightly so when he made the eighth cast.
Castanet caught up with Maureen to ask about the experience of being Canada’s worst driver and what, if anything, Klyne had learned from the experience.
C: Approx.n Do you explain a little why you think Klyne is Canada’s worst driver?
M: I nominated him because he wrote off my van and the car we bought for him within the first two months of receiving his driver’s license. He was chosen from 1,000 nominees, so that should explain something. But I did it with the hope that he would learn to be a safe driver.

C.:: Was the show a competitive atmosphere or did they all get along well?
M: The atmosphere was great and hot. It attracts a very interesting group of characters and this season is no different. It was a lot more stressful than I thought, but with all these different personalities, everyone got along for the most part.
C: What was the most enjoyable part of filming the show?
M: Meet all the drivers and their nominators and spend 16 hours a day with a very interesting group of people. Not to mention, my son came to realize that he may not be as good as he thought he was. It was also fun to see that no one nominated thought they were that bad until Day One of Challenges.
C: What was the MOST TERRIBLE part of filming?
M: I’ve been in the car with my son for many days and I’ve broken all these cars. I have never had a head-on collision before. And it’s been many days of the crash.
C: How do you think you would have done it on the show if you had overcome some of the challenges? Klyne Has?
M: All challenges were tough, I’m afraid to admit that some of them I might not have done as well as he did, but some I would have done better.
C: Now that the show is taped, I know you can’t share results, but would you say Klyne at all improved behind the wheel?
M: His dad says yes, I’m still scared to drive with him and he hates me in his car.
C: What kind of emotions or feelings do you have as the season premiere approaches?
M: Excited and scared, not sure what they will do to us while processing it. I’m really nice but could come out difficult on the show.
