Creative Roots Landscaping has donated $2,500 to support mental health in the Okanagan.

The Kelowna business uses an open book management system that includes weekly meetings to discuss the finances of the company, ways to succeed as a team and the impact that success will have on the bottom line. Each employee donates one hour of their wages for these meetings, and that works out to about $1,300 per month that they then give to a charity.

The most recent recipient was the Kelowna branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Creative Roots Landscaping chose the CMHA because it is too experiencing the challenges and stresses that have come with the pandemic and inflation.

“Without mental health there is no health,” the business said in a press release. “The Creative Roots team appreciates the mental health resources they all have access to; group benefits providing psychological support, and an internal certified coach to help them thrive and develop in their lives and careers. With this $2,500 donation the landscaping team hopes to make a positive impact for others in the community with fewer resources at their disposal.”

The landscaping team will be giving two more $2,500 donations to non-profits later this year.
