Inside Well being youth poked and urged them to make vaccines trendy – Kelowna Capital Information

Interior Health welcomes young people to COVID-19 vaccination clinics across the region this weekend as the health authority exceeds 425,000 administered doses and # travel2immunity persists.

This week, influencers from communities across inland used social media to encourage friends, colleagues and neighbors to get vaccinated.

“I want to thank everyone who is helping us raise awareness and encourage people to register and schedule their vaccine appointment,” said Susan Brown, President and CEO of Interior Health. “Whether you are a family or community influencer, your efforts to share and promote our #travel2immunity campaign will be greatly appreciated.”

From Thursday, May 20th, young people between the ages of 12 and 17 (born in 2009 or earlier) can register and get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“I register my whole family and all of my friends,” said 18-year-old social media influencer Audrey Wittmann. “Since this pandemic started, people my age and younger have wanted to do more to fight COVID-19, and we want life to go back to normal. So I ask young people like me to register and get vaccinated as soon as possible. “

People with social media are encouraged to use it to promote vaccine registration.

“This is our chance to make a real difference in the fight against COVID-19,” Kelowna business owner and elected official Loyal Wooldridge said. “It’s the chance we’ve all been waiting for to kickstart economic recovery, get back to normal, and enjoy a safe summer.”

The introduction of the vaccine inside is a coordinated action between Interior Health and the First Nations Health Authority. To date, immunizers across the Region have delivered 404,726 first doses and 24,950 second doses for a total of 429,676 doses.

To register for COVID-19 vaccine notifications, visit gov.bc.ca/getvaccinned, call 1-833-838-2323, or visit a Service BC office.
