One of the two outbreaks at Kelowna General Hospital has been declared over.
Interior Health announced today that the outbreak in Unit 5B at KGH is now contained.
There were a total of 10 cases related to this outbreak, five employees and five patients, and two deaths.
“I would like to thank the KGH team for their efforts to contain this outbreak. We extend our condolences to the families of the two deceased patients, ”said Susan Brown, President and CEO of IH.
Brown said the IH team continues to work hard to contain the hospital’s other outbreak in Unit 4E.
As since these outbreaks were reported, the KGH is still safe for appointments and emergency care.
The health authority is urging people to proceed with the planned procedures and is a reminder that no self-isolation or COVID-19 testing is required after visiting the hospital.
