UPDATE 3:50 p.m.

The rescued woman is now in stable condition at Kelowna General Hospital, West Kelowna Fire Department assistant chief Brent Watson confirmed.

Eight firefighters and a supervisor helped with the rescue, along with crews from BC Ambulance.

Watson says that while the rescue was “technically not difficult,” it took more than two hours, requiring the WKFR crews to hike to the top of Mount Boucherie with medical equipment and a stretcher.

“The conditions of extreme heat and exposure to sunlight made the rescue physically difficult as the patient was carried on a stretcher all the way down the hill to a waiting ambulance.”

UPDATE 12:35 p.m.

The injured woman has been safely located and is being taken to Mount Boucherie by the West Kelowna Fire Department.

The woman was reportedly 30 meters from the trail after injuring her ankle Sunday afternoon.
