A Kelowna dance and yoga studio owner speaks up after receiving negative comments on social media because people thought her studio was promoting an anti-COVID-19 vaccine message.

Sara Green Eddy, the owner of Move & Flow – Dance Fitness & Yoga, posted on Facebook last night April 14th after receiving negative calls, messages and emails from people who believed a controversial one was Martial arts studio tied to a similar name, Flow Academy.

The Flow Academy, recently published on their website, does not allow anyone to become a member if they have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The martial arts academy has received both a ticket and an order in the past few months after violating public health regulations that banned indoor fitness classes. In addition, the business license could not be renewed in March because it did not comply with Interior Health’s pandemic procedures. It has received two additional tickets from the city to operate without a business license.

Eddy wanted to make it clear that she wasn’t an anti-mask or an anti-vaccine. Her studio also follows provincial health orders.

She posted on social media to publicize the identity mix-up.

“It was better to let everyone know. So when people come to our Facebook and plan to write nasty messages, they see more information and find out that it’s not us,” she said, adding that there is one too Its website saw an increase in visitors April 14 when the Flow Academy pandemic news was first announced.

“All of our courses are currently available online. It has been a challenging time for all small businesses and we are working hard to keep providing courses and community to our fabulous members, ”she wrote on Facebook.

She is grateful to see that people shared the post and left positive messages on it.

Regarding the Flow Academy’s martial arts studio, the city is coordinating with law enforcement agencies on the next steps to investigate the effects of non-compliance with health regulations.
