Interior Health has reported an “outbreak” at a Kelowna nursing home after a single employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

It is the second time in seven months that COVID-19 has been detected at Hawthorn Park Orchard Manor.

Interior Health confirmed the case Friday afternoon.

“An employee tested positive at Orchard Manor and an outbreak was reported,” Interior Health said in an email to Castanet.

One of the family members of a resident of the nursing home states that the resident families have been notified and all visits for the next two weeks have been canceled – part of the outbreak log.

The notification to families states that an investigation is pending at Hawthorn Park Orchard Manor.

As always, Interior Health is working with the Orchard Manor management team on the investigation, “and steps are being taken to protect the health of all residents and employees.”

The previous outbreak at this facility was limited to a single employee. It was declared ended on May 5th.
