Castanet learned that another long-term care facility for seniors in Kelowna had what they call “low COVID-19 exposure”.

Melanie Reinhardt, president of Vantage Living Inc., the company that operates Brandts Creek Mews on Cross Road. Castanet tells that the “event” presumably took place on December 12, 2020.

An excerpt from the internal memo addressed to “the esteemed employees, residents and families of Brandt’s Creek Mews” states that they are working with Interior Health on a low level exposure and that an investigation is ongoing. “We have only identified one case so far and are continuing to monitor it to identify other possible cases. Vantage Living is partnering with Interior Health on this investigation and steps are being taken to protect the health of all residents and employees.”

The letter states that Vantage Living and Interior Health take exposure seriously and are taking additional steps to protect the health of employees, residents and families. Vantage Living and Interior Health are now closely monitoring symptoms for all residents and employees.

“Any resident or employee who has been exposed and deemed close contacts will be contacted by Interior Health Public Health and asked to isolate themselves for 14 days from the last exposure date. Vantage Living will report this to Interior Health for follow-up and monitoring.” is the name of the memo.

An Interior Health media spokesperson responded to our questions about this recent exposure and acknowledged the incident: “Brandt’s Creek Mews, which we are investigating, detected low risk exposure but no outbreak was reported.”
