Interior Health has released an update on multiple COVID-19 outbreaks in nursing homes in Okanagan, which have contributed to four more deaths inside BC in the past four days.

One death occurred at McKinney Square Center in Oliver while the other occurred at Heritage Square in Vernon. Two other deaths occurred in the hospital or in the community. IH has registered 290 new coronavirus cases since December 31.

“We are sad to hear that we reported four more deaths related to COVID-19 in the indoor health sector over the weekend. We know this is particularly difficult for families and carers, and I would like to offer our condolences at this difficult time, “said Susan Brown, President and CEO of Interior Health.” With early 2021 there is much to be hoped for with the rollout of vaccination underway, but we all need to remember to continue following public health guidelines to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. “
