Hundreds of Kelowna properties are slowly getting energy again – Kelowna Capital Information

Most of the residents along the Rutland Bench and Black Mountain area were restored to electricity.

Another outage now affects the Southeast Kelowna region.

Much of Gallaghers Canyon remains in the dark, but FortisBC is working to restore the failure.

Most of the residents of Gallaghers Canyon, Rutland, and Black Mountain in Kelowna are in the dark on Monday morning.

A power failure was reported around 8:30 a.m. It is unclear what caused the outage, although heavy snowfall is forecast for the area.

In the Gallaghers Canyon region, around 1,480 FortisBC customers are without electricity. In the Kirschner Mountains, almost 2,000 customers are affected in Black Mountain. Another 2,000 customers also have failure problems in the Rutland Bench area.

It is unclear when power will be restored, but FortisBC is on site.

Environment Canada issued the winter weather warning for Monday, stating that parts of the Okanagan could see up to 8 inches of snow.

The central Okanagan is currently only dealing with rain, while the southern Okanagan is already starting to see the white stuff sticking to the ground.
