A 34-year-old homeless man was found dead in downtown Kelowna last night.
Officials found the man yesterday, December 28, around 10:50 p.m. at the 1400 block of Pandosy Street, near the Queensway Bus Loop, with a group of homeless people doing a health check, according to an RCMP media release.
He was unresponsive and life support including CPR and naloxone was administered immediately. The man was taken by ambulance to Kelowna General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The cause of death is not yet known but is not considered suspicious, RCMP said.
Over the past week, health checks have been conducted for those staying out in the cold, along with officials from the city’s Community Safety Unit and Bylaw Services. Controls include finding shelters, helping to coordinate transportation to shelters, and providing warm clothing.
“Officials from our Community Safety Unit are getting to know our marginalized customers who live on the streets, and they are deeply saddened by this loss,” said Kelowna RCMP spokesman Cpl. Tammy Lobb said in the publication. “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time.”
The investigation was turned over to the BC Coroners Service.
