A house fire on Monday morning in Kelowna claimed lives.

Rescue workers were called to Block 100 on Timberline Road shortly before 6 a.m. on October 11 because of the fire.

Due to structural damage to the house and the risk of the roof collapsing as a result of the fire, the emergency services could not enter and carry out a full search. On Wednesday, firefighters and RCMP fire investigators resumed the search and discovered the remains of a deceased person.

“Kelowna RCMP is working with the BC Coroners Service to identify and determine the identity of the deceased,” said Const. Solana Paré, Kelowna RCMP Media Officer.

“The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.”
