A summary of the results of hockey teams in the Okanagan.
MINOR HOCKEY
The Kelowna Peewee 1A girls’ hockey team completed a spectacular season in style on Sunday, winning the provincial championship in a dramatic manner.
At Trail, Kelowna scored a 3-2 win over Surrey nine minutes after extra time. After a 2-0 deficit, he took the glory of BC. Kelowna were 1-0 behind after the first period of the gold medal, but led 2-1 late in the third round, only the Falcons only had 30 seconds left in regular time.

The golden goal for Kelowna came from Cassidy Bank, who diverted a slapshot from Karington Mollin. The team noted that goalkeeper Reese Sliskovic was spectacular throughout the game.

The tournament took place in Trail March 19-24 and also featured the following teams: West Kootenay, Prince George, North Shore and South Island.
Of the six Kelowna teams that traveled to provincial championships during the spring break, only Kelowna’s girls came back with a medal.
During the round robin game at Trail, Kelowna started with a 10-0 win over South Island, but the Rockets lost their next game 6-5 to Surrey. But Kelowna rebounded, beating Prince George 6-0, West Kootenay 9-1 and North Shore 4-2.

With a record win, the Rockets reached the gold medal game against Surrey. Kelowna’s coaching staff said the team avenged their round robin loss through relentless pre-exams, timely defensive play and light-off goalkeepers.
Overall, Kelowna ended with a 22-1 record against female teams.
The team consists of Cassidy Bank, Denaya Buehner, Jiya Deol, Jaia Freer, Gracie Graham, Kaitlyn Hillson, London Jones, Kyly Laybolt, Ava Macleod, Madison Mahovlich, Kaitlyn Mallette, Karington Mollin, Alexandra Recsky, Reese Sliskovic, Jaelyn Spavor and Mahala Umeris, head coach John Graham, assistant coach Tom Buehner, Kyle Recsky, Chris Freer, Kris Mallette and manager Lana Mahovlich.
KOOTENAY INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE
Revelstoke 3, Kelowna 1
In Revelstoke, Liam McGarva stopped 48 shots when the Grizzlies eliminated the postseason Chiefs by winning Game 6 on Tuesday night.

The win brought Revelstoke a 4-2 win when the Grizzlies reached the league finals against the Kimberley Dynamiters.
Their Chiefs ended their season 3-1 in Game 6 last night in Revelstoke. @ RevelstokeGriz1 participate in the @KIJHL Okanagan / Shuswap Conference Championship.

Revelstoke won the first two games of the conference finals, with Kelowna winning games 3 and 4. However, the Grizzlies ended the series with wins in Games 5 and 6.
Drivers McCallum, Ethan Schaeffer and Ullar Wiatzka scored a goal for Revelstoke, who were 1-0 down after the first half, but led 2-1 after 40 minutes.
McCallum scored 1: 1 at 3:08 a.m., Schaeffer 2: 1 with a power play goal at 4:05 p.m. Wiatzka rounded off the score at 2:04 a.m.
Juanre Naude, with a power play goal at 3:13 pm of the first, answered for Kelowna, who overtook Revelstoke 49-32.
Braeden Mitchell stopped 29 shots for the Chiefs, who had the league’s best record of the regular season (43-3-1-0-2, 89 points). Revelstoke was right behind, however (42-6-0-0-1, 85 points).
Kelowna were 7-1 in the power play while Revelstoke was 5-2. Participation was not available.

The Coy Cup is the senior 2A championship for BC
There are no Okanagan teams involved, but four teams – Williams Lake, Dawson Creek, Prince Rupert, and Fort St. John – are participating. The tournament at Fort St. John will take place March 26-30.
At the Coy Cup 2018 Kelowna Sparta lost in the final 10: 4 to Dawson Creek.
