“Dangerous situation” in a busy Kelowna store leads to police presence
27-year-old man arrested after threatening to injure himself in the store
Police arrested a man who threatens to injure himself in a busy Kelowna store.
On Thursday (January 14), just before 2 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to the disturbance, which it claims was developing rapidly at the entrance to a Kelowna store.
Police found the distraught man in a shop on the 1500 block off Banks Road.
“Due to the potential dangers of the situation, police officers reacted as quickly as possible and immediately sought the support of rescue workers and firefighters,” said RCMP in a statement on January 15.
Police arrested the 27-year-old man who allegedly had a mental crisis. According to the RCMP, he was taken without injury.
“He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination and care.”
RCMP does not publish any further information on this matter.
