Underserved children in the Okanagan are getting a boost this summer.
From June 28th to July 11th, Peter’s Your Independent Grocer customers will have the opportunity to help children become more involved in local sport. In addition to KidSport Kelowna, the “Give A Little, Help A lot” campaign aims to remove the financial barriers children face and help them get involved in organized sports.
Her independent grocer Peter Boyd said the benefits of the sport go well beyond the playing fields.
“Many of the skills and experiences gained from sport help children reach their adult potential,” said Boyd.
“That is why it is important that all children have the opportunity, because in addition to fun, it also offers something.”

The two-week campaign allows customers to donate $ 2 when they check out their groceries. Since 2014, your local independent grocer and “Give A Little, Help Big” campaign have raised over US $ 17,000 and helped KidSport help more than 100 children play sports in Kelowna.
“The reality is that every year there are still many children who miss out on exercising because families can’t afford the price,” said Cheryl Browne, chairwoman of KidSport Kelowna.
“With the support of partners like Peter’s Your Independent Grocer and customers, we will ensure that fewer children are left on the sidelines.”
