Dancers from Les Folles Jambettes, whose name translates from French as ‘the girls with crazy legs’, performed at around seven houses, whose Christmas decorations richly expressed the residents’ holiday cheer. In some cases, the dancers tipped off the households, but most viewers were caught off guard.

After driving to each house, the dancers knocked on the front doors and took less than a minute to take their places in the snow before a stereo played tunes from the famous Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker Suite.
According to Shenstone, each of the dancers’ dresses, complete with battery-powered Christmas lights, took about 10 hours to make. Saturday’s flash mobs were funded in part by the Jambettes’ 2021 Civic Arts Grant, courtesy of Gallery 2 and the City Council.
