Goats Peak sent for a hearing

A large West Kelowna housing estate, previously canceled but now revitalized, is about to hold a public hearing.

West Kelowna City Council this week voted in favor of tentative approval for Goats Peak development.

Back in 2017, the city of West Kelowna passed a development plan for the gradual development of around 933 homes on 161 acres directly north of the Goats Peak Regional Park.

The plan before the municipal council provides that the first phase includes around 60 single-family houses and 82 single-family or maisonette plots as well as 42 townhouse units.

Changes to the official community plan and the city’s building regulations are required. The city council tabled amendments on Tuesday in both first and second reading and sent the project for a public hearing.

Development is resurrected after being put on hold in 2018 as the province’s speculation tax makes it impractical, according to the developer.
