KELOWNA, BC – Fundraising pages were set up to support the families of four construction workers who were killed in the crane collapse in Kelowna earlier this week.
The fundraiser identified brothers Eric and Patrick Stemmer of Salmon Arm, BC, as victims of the collapse.
“These men are to so many husbands, fathers, sons, friends and chosen families, this sudden loss is just heartbreaking,” wrote Emily Roy, campaign organizer.
Jared Zook was also identified in the fundraiser.
“Our family is devastated at the loss of our funny, kind and loving son / brother / friend / nephew / cousin / husband,” wrote the organizers of the campaign. “Our life is infinitely better because he’s part of it. We know that Jesus is just putting his arms around him. “
Cailen Vilness, 23, was identified by a Living Faith Church that ran a fundraiser for his family.
“Cailen was a prince of a man and our family is devastated by the loss of our beloved son, friend, brother, nephew and grandson,” wrote the organizers. “He was only 23, with his whole life ahead of him, and preparing to spend the rest of his life with the woman of his dreams.”
The identity of a fifth victim was not disclosed. The man was working in a nearby building when the collapse killed him and reduced him to ashes. His body was recovered by a specialized search and rescue team on Wednesday.
