Phase one of the work on the KVR comprised the preparation of the subsoil and improvements to the drainage and was completed in early summer 2021

Three kilometers and 20 sections of the Kettle Valley Rail (KVR) Trail between Myra Canyon and Chute Lake will be surface improvements throughout September after work in the area was delayed by the risk of fire.

The Okanagan-Similkameen Regional Unit is coordinating with Recreation Sites and Trails BC and the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association to complete the surface improvements.

Sections between Kelowna and Naramata have suffered severe damage in recent years and the project aims to create a more suitable surface for hikers to enjoy safely.

Construction begins this Monday and is expected to be completed by the end of the month. Work will not close the KVR during this time, however travelers are advised that there will be delays if construction teams and heavy equipment are present. People are asked to respect equipment, barriers, and any posted signs.

This renovation work is part of the second phase of the KVR Trail Improvements project between Myra Canyon and Chute Lake. Phase one was completed in early summer 2021.
