The BC Wildfire Service says crews are making good progress in extinguishing the portion of the Brenda Creek Wildfire that burns along the only BC Hydro transmission line that powers Peachland, West Bank First Nation, and West Kelowna.

The size of the fire has been downgraded again from an earlier estimate of 500 acres to 450 acres.

The crews reported less severe fire activity overnight.

40 firefighters, two helicopters and 11 heavy equipment are assigned to the fire today. They are supported by 18 other employees, including a BCWS Incident Management Team.

The fire is still classified as out of control and evacuation orders and warnings are in place for parts of the Okanagan-Similkameen and Thompson-Nicola counties.
