A small grass fire in Bertram Creek Park on Monday morning is described as “somewhat suspicious”.

Kelowna Fire Department platoon leader Tim Light says a joint KFD and RCMP investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Light says the fire grew to about 12 by 30 meters before the crews successfully extinguished it.

The fire was first discovered by a county employee.

Firefighters were busy fighting a grass fire near Bertram Creek Park this morning.

Isaac Grimes sent this photo to Castanet, showing clouds of smoke that appear to be from Bertram Creek Regional Park, south of Cedar Creek Winery on Lakeshore Road.

Grimes says he spotted the smoke just before 11:30 a.m. on Monday morning. The fire brigade responded to the small, slowly moving grass fire and quickly put it out.
