Evacuated staff stop the hearth from spreading within the Kelowna retailer

A small fire on Wednesday morning temporarily interrupted operations at a metalworking facility in Kelowna.

The fire broke out in a garbage collection unit outside the AJ Forsyth property, forcing staff to evacuate.

Trend stories

Flames scorch the metal wall of the building but do not penetrate.

Workers used a water hose to prevent the fire from spreading to dry grass along Grigg Road before the fire department arrived.

In October 2015 there was a similar fire in the production plant.
