The task of clearing the last bits of winter from the city streets has begun in West Kelowna.

The contractors have started removing the remaining sand and gravel from the streets of the city.

Roads are already being swept in the West Bank. The Gellatly / Goats Peak neighborhood is slated to begin on Thursday with South Boucherie / Pritchard / Green Bay Friday.

These districts were originally planned for the next week.

The preliminary schedule, which is weather dependent, includes:

  • West Bank – in progress
  • Gellatly Goat’s Peak – March 11th
  • South Boucherie // Pritchard / Green Bay – March 12th
  • Lakeview Heights / Casa Loma – March 16
  • Butcher – March 19th
  • West Kelowna Estates – March 24th
  • Rose Valley – March 26th
  • Shannon Lake – March 30th
  • Smith Creek – April 7th
  • Glenrosa – April 13th
  • Upper Glenrosa / Bear Creek – late April
  • West Kelowna Business Park – To be determined

Signs will be posted in neighborhoods prior to street sweeping, and the city is asking residents to ensure vehicles are parked off-street from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the scheduled days

While the city says it values the pride of residents in its neighborhood, it urges people not to sweep debris on the street as it slows down the cleaning process.
