Crews put out grass fire

UPDATE 5:10 p.m.

The Kelowna Fire Department says they were called around 3:45 p.m. about a grass fire in the Okanagan Golf Club area

The first arriving crews located the first stage grass fire, which was about 120 by 12 meters. The crew quickly put out the fire and set up a guard around it.

“The approximate location was next to the ninth fairway. The fire is considered to be accidental, ”said platoon leader John Kelly.

A total of 10 firefighters were on duty.

The crews have posted a guard around the slow-burning ground fire, which is now estimated to be approximately 120 feet by 40 feet.

The crews are working to control a grass fire near the Quail Ridge golf course.

A photo of Michele Anaka, who lives near the Pinnacle Point Resort, shows smoke rising through the trees between her apartment and Highway 97.

Fire departments are working to put out the fire.
