UPDATE: Crash on Coquihalla south of Merritt now clear

A collision blocked Highway 5 going south

The Coquihalla is now open south of Merritt near Kingsvale. Drivers should still expect delays.

Two vehicle accidents involved the Coquihalla on Tuesday morning.

A crash has blocked Highway 5 south between Exit 276: Comstock Road and Exit 256: Coldwater Road for 12 miles.

An assessment is in progress and an update will be provided by DriveBC after 10am

At around 9:30 a.m., a collision south of Helmer Road between Kamloops and Merritt caused delays. The drivers are asked to drive more slowly and watch out for emergency vehicles.

Alternative routes are available on Highway 1 and Highway 3.

The Coquihalla was closed for several hours on Monday after an accident with a tractor-trailer.

AIM Roads reports that Highway 97C has patches of black ice and limited visibility due to fog. Drivers are reminded to drive in wintry conditions.
