The COVID-19 outbreak at the Spring Valley Care Center in Kelowna was officially declared over seven weeks after it was first declared.

The outbreak was first declared on April 28, and eventually 36 residents and 12 staff members contracted the disease. Twelve residents of the house who contracted the virus have died since the outbreak was proclaimed.

Interior Health announced the twelfth death at the facility on Tuesday.

Now that the Spring Valley outbreak has been declared over, there are no active outbreaks in long-term care, independent, or assisted inland homes.

There are still two outbreaks in facilities in the Fraser Health area and two in the Northern Health area.
