A new COVID-19 outbreak has been reported at the Spring Valley Care Center in Kelowna

Another resident of a long-term care home in Kelowna recently died of COVID-19 while another outbreak was reported at a facility in Kelowna.

After Interior Health reported earlier this week that 14 Interior residents died of COVID-19 this month, including 10 nursing home residents, health officials reported that another long-term care resident David Lloyd Jones in Kelowna has died.

The outbreak at the facility is one of the largest active outbreaks in the province, with 38 residents and 11 employees testing positive for the virus. So far, four people who contracted the virus have died in the facility.

In addition, a new outbreak was reported on Wednesday at the Spring Valley Care Center in Kelowna. The new outbreak comes after a previous outbreak was reported at the same facility last spring. After a month and a half, 12 residents of the facility died who were infected with the disease in the first outbreak.

The Ministry of Health did not reveal how many people tested positive for COVID-19 in this latest outbreak.
