A man and woman from the Lower Mainland were arrested following an alleged shoplifting in the Central Okanagan with suspected stolen goods worth over $ 30,000.

The Kelowna RCMP Community Safety Unit (CSU) was made aware of the couple over the weekend.

They were linked to a Ford truck and allegedly stole high quality goods from local businesses.

“The investigators worked with the loss prevention officers to get more details about the description of the suspects,” said a press release from the RCMP.

<p dir=On Tuesday, the RCMP CSU West Kelowna found the van in the parking lot of a store in Kelowna and the two suspects were inside.

They were taken into custody without incident and a search of their confiscated van revealed a large number of items of suspected stolen property.

“The reclaimed goods included home improvement supplies, kitchen appliances, and various tools and machines of great value,” said Cpl. Bryan Mulrooney.

“Many thieves and shoplifters cost businesses thousands of dollars in lost revenue every month.”

The 42-year-old Langley man and 46-year-old White Rock woman were later parole released to appear in court.

The investigation is ongoing and the results are being presented to the BC prosecutor for investigation into the case.
