UPDATE 10:57 a.m. 57

The woman who snapped a photo of a puma on the doorstep of a house on Woodpark Crescent in Magic Estates on Knox Mountain tells Castanet that she took the photo at 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Anita Peterson says she wanted to run when she spotted the big cat.

“I’ve never seen a cougar and I’ve lived in Kelowna all my life.”

She says she was worried the cat would come through the neighborhood on the way back to the woods.

“He scared me and I hid behind a truck and took a picture. He ran to the door and then jumped over the fence into the back yard. “

Peterson says she decided to continue her run, but when she returned an hour later the cat was still there.

“I could hear a dog barking. Then I heard the homeowner scream,” Get out of here. ” Then it hissed and growled and jumped. We just ran as fast as we could. “

“They don’t expect it to run through a neighborhood.”
