Customers rave about a unique display at Save on Foods in Orchard Plaza that shows Spiderman and Venom made from Coca-Cola products.

“I think it’s absolutely amazing that someone has taken a lot of time and definitely a lot of commitment,” says Julie Gunther. “It’s really cool.”

The man behind the job is Save on Foods’ deputy manager Eric Falkenberg. Despite his passion for creating displays that grab his customers’ attention, his Spiderman and Venom masterpiece has not been an easy task.

“It took 3 weeks of my own time putting it together along with the whole thought and process, and then it was a really long night putting it together,” said Falkenberg.

He said that choosing this particular design was really something for the kids.

“Every child likes to dress up as Spiderman. It’s probably a top 3 costume for everyone, and I love good versus bad, you have bad Venom on one side and good Spiderman on the other, ”explained Falkenberg.

Falkenberg has also been honored three times by the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers for his impressive exhibition work, and he will soon receive a fourth award.

“It’s a bit like winning an Oscar or a Grammy for best performance, and I’ve been doing it for about 4 or 5 years. I have 3 awards and another one is coming next Tuesday, ”said Falkenberg.

His creative spirit caught the attention of not only customers and the CFIG, but also the President of Coca-Cola.

“I’ve met the President of Coke twice now for demonstrations like this. We have to go to dinner both times. The second time we made jokes and had a lot of fun, ”said Falkenberg.

If you’d like to see the display in person, head to Save on Foods on Cooper Road. If you don’t get to see Falkenberg’s Halloween exhibit in time, he tells Castanet that he’s already planning ideas for Christmas.
