City of West Kelowna crews will begin construction on September 14th at the roundabout at Shannon Lake-Bartley-Stevens intersection.

Phase one includes the laying of above-ground and underground supply lines as well as the construction of a retaining wall and parts of the new roundabout.

In order to do justice to the first construction phase, Stevens Road will be closed to vehicle traffic for about 12 weeks from the junction of Bartley-Shannon Lake to Julian Road.

Crews are expected to reopen the intersection in early December when the work is complete, and updates to the community will be released ahead of the opening.

For motorists, a detour will be set up on Byland Road to Julian Road, while access to Byland Road will be maintained from Stevens Road (via Juliann). Road users are advised to take the detour with caution.

All area businesses will remain accessible and the contractor has posted electronic signs along Highway 97, Shannon Lake and Stevens Road to help motorists navigate the area during construction. Emergency vehicles, transit and alternative business access are maintained at all times.
