Burglars break right into a clothes retailer in West Kelowna by means of the roof

Thieves break through the roof

A West Kelowna shop owner is upset after thieves broke into his clothing store early Friday morning.

Stu Foord, the owner of Elevate Hype and Sport on Ross Road, has only opened for a few months. The former CFL running back was shocked when he woke up to missed police calls and said there was a break-in through the ceiling of his shop between 3 and 4 a.m.

“They came in through the roof, climbed around the roof until they found a place to pierce the interior ceiling. They grabbed some clothes and other items from our store and went through the back door, ”describes Foord.

Fortunately for Foord, the police were on a routine patrol of the area shortly after leaving the building. As the officers approached, the crooks dropped most of the stolen property and ran away.

“Some of the items were recovered so we’re very happy about them,” said Foord.

He understands that times are tough for everyone right now and is not upset, but wants the suspects to come forward.

The store will reopen on Saturday after it closed on Friday for police to investigate.

Foord praised the RCMP, grateful that they managed to find some of the stolen items and that the situation was no worse.
