The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs (BGCO) have received a generous donation from a community member as well as a scholarship at a time when young people are in need of their services most.
On Wednesday, February 17, BGCO announced that a member of the community had donated $ 10,000 to the organization’s Pink Shirt Day campaign.
“We are very grateful for the support the community is giving to the boys and girls clubs on Okanagan and Pink Shirt Day. We encourage the community to continue donating to bring this gift together, ”said Richelle Leckey, BGCO Community Engagement Coordinator.
BGCO is committed to raising $ 20,000 for the Pink Shirt Day campaign in order to continue offering children’s and youth programs and to help nonprofits continue to provide a safe space for youth.
This year’s Pink Shirt Day breakfast will practically take place this year with Breakfast in a Box.
The boxes can be bought online and are filled with breakfast foods and other surprises.
On Thursday, February 18, the BGCO received $ 25,000 in grants from Rogers.
“As organizations across BC continue to face challenges from the pandemic, the support of Ted Rogers Community Grants is helping them deliver critical programs to youth in our communities,” said Rick Sellers, BC region president for Rogers Communication.
“This year, support is more important than ever and we are proud to help the next generation of teenagers achieve their dreams through the pandemic and beyond.”
