BGC Okanagan

Imagine removing all barriers for children, youth, and families to provide opportunities to grow into healthy, happy, and successful adults.

BGC Okanagan achieves this by investing in programs and services designed to provide a safe place of belonging with positive role models.

With the generosity of the community, BGC Okanagan helps children and youth discover and achieve their dreams while building confidence and life skills. However, over the past two years, finding ways to raise funds has been a challenge.

Funds support local families directly through our life-changing programs and services; Whether it’s giving someone the only meal of the day, homework help, a mental health check-in, an after-school snack, assistance with life’s challenges, or just a high five. From birth to young adult, our clubs provide everything they need in life – including access to opportunities they may not find outside the club walls.

We are grateful and appreciative of the support we have received from businesses, service groups and individuals this year. Virtual fundraising events have been successful and we have adjusted other events to ensure our communities can safely participate. These include the Capri CMW Insurance Golf 4 Kids Day and our Pink Shirt Day Breakfast in a Box (returning February 2022). Until December 31st, you can make a difference by donating to the Gift of Giving campaign at bgco.ca or by purchasing WestJet Gift of Flight for Two raffle tickets (only 330 will be sold).

Fundraising efforts have enabled us to provide support at our 41 club locations in the Okanagan through our preschool, daycare, before and after school care, recreational programs, youth and family support programs. The programs offer life skills, mental health awareness, social and emotional development, opportunities to make friends, connect with positive role models and discover new interests. Clubs are a supportive place where they are cared for, feel safe and have a sense of belonging.

At BGC Okanagan, one often hears “opportunity changes everything”. The removal of barriers offers systemic opportunities for all children and young people. We help them to become their best self. We cheer them on as they move on from there with confidence and belief. All they need is opportunity because opportunity changes everything.

The Gift of Giving launched on November 30 with a goal of raising $50,000 by December 31, 2021. There are several ways to support this campaign. Please consider making an online donation or purchasing a WestJet Gift of Flight for Two raffle ticket.
