BC Liberal Party chairman Andrew Wilkinson made many promises during a lunch hosted by the business community.

“Property taxes like the fake NDP school tax and the fake NDP speculation tax will go away when we form a government,” Wilkinson said in his speech.

“Our government would abolish its speculative tax because it has nothing to do with speculation and everything to do with taxation on retirement,” he added.

Luncheon host and CEO of Troika Developments, Renee Wasylyk, said she was pleased with the final commitment to abolish the speculative tax.

“We as developers are hit from all directions,” she said.

“We recorded a 29 percent drop in sales in the Kelowna CMA area in December. That is catastrophic. “

Other pledges from Wilkinson include a promise to tackle low rental vacancies and do more to eradicate the opioid crisis.

“We need to start talking about a positive agenda. We all know there is a by-election in Nanaimo that could trigger a general election later this year, ”he said.

“The BC Liberal Party is essentially about answering Ronald Reagan’s question,” he added. “The entrepreneurship that has made the Okanagan a fantastic place to live and work needs to be rewarded.”
